DoomsDay 2012 - Is it true?

Firstly, for those who aren't aware of this sensational topic over the internet in the recent days - DoomsDay 2012. It has been believed by various scientists, historians, philosophers that human civilization will vanish from our motherly earth in the year 2012. There are so many books, videos, blogs sold for this one sensational topic having no substantial proof. Even a movie is going to be released in Nov, 2009 namely 2012. Though i would suggest to watch the trailer of this movie as it has been made to leverage anxiety, excitement, fear & most importantly curiosity in the viewer to watch this movie.

Cause?
The main cause as explained by many scientists is 'pole reversal'.

Earth has it's own magnetic field having the current south & north poles near north & south geographic poles respectively. This magnetic field is assumed to be caused due to the sun's magnetic field.

Now after a time cycle(0.1-25 million years), it is assumed from paleontology study that poles reverse their direction in a span of 5,000 years. During the span, net magnetic field of earth keeps on diminishing.

Effects
With reducing magnetic field:

Radiations from the sun won't be screened well. High chances of cancer in living civilization.

Asteroids are deviated due to earth's magnetic field. Thus, more number of asteroids collision on earth's surface.

Massive plate shifting causing earthquakes, volcanic eruptions etc.

Will it be in 2012?

FOR
Various religions depict this year as the end of the civilization as calenders extrapolated in many religions are till date 2012.

Oracles, Philosophers of the past had a forecast of this year to be the end of civilization.

AGAINST
NASA predicted 2000 years back as all time low in earth's magentic field. Thus, cycle will take another 3000 years to complete.

There hasn't been much research on how earth's magnetic field was formed and after how many years will there be pole reversal. A lot many factors affect this pole reversal like presence of heavyinly planet near earth for creating huge torque, Sun's mangetic field time period etc.

Conclusion
A lot many videos, books and DVDs have been sold in the recent past on the same subject to prove their theories right and taking religious sentiments in play.

There is no accurate prediction of the year 2012 scientifically.

Though, it is true that earth's magnetic field is reducing which will cause major environmental changes and some of which are been observed in present date.

Experiencing Global Warming

I as a kid debated on this issue handful number of times without experiences the consequences. My dad told me once that this was also a hit topic during his college days. It has been so long and nothing appreciable has been done to this account.


The year 2009 was an eventful year for me to experience more on global warming personally. Thanks to BBC & Google weather for keeping me updated. A pair of my observations:

1) This year seasons came 2 days early. 2 out of 365 is a whole lot number if we assume in 15 years season shifts by a month!!!

2) Today, Kharagpur's Maximum Temp. was 44 C & Delhi's was 40 C. These both cities are on nearly same latitude while Kharagpur being near sea coast and Delhi having land locked geography. Every year Delhi is hotter than Kharagpur with high margin.

What has these events changed in me:

1) Will i live more than 20 years? I will enjoy my life to the fullest as i am not sure if i will live for more 20 years.

2) I cannot fulfill my dream of settling in a beach house as we have to move towards land to increase our life expectancy.

3) I have to show my children everything as early as possible so that they don't miss the essence of being alive for a short span of time.

Begarry on Red Lights

It was my last day of holidays in beautiful, subtle and fast moving capital. My journey from Safdarjung Enclave to Paharganj side of the station in youth public transport -Autorickshaw was a memorable one and left a deep imprint on my heart.

My eyes got struck on a very young girl putting her hands in dirty sweat shirt pockets to resist the chilling weather of late December near India gate crossing and she looked dazed. I assumed the loss of direction as a reason to be confused, but later discovered a voice coming somewhere from behind and cleared all my doubts and presumptions. A group of poor ladies sitting in the left pavement of the crossing screamed 'maang'. A 5 year old poor girl was getting trained to beg on the red light by a mixed group of elder girls and ladies. The little poor fellow didn't know the next step after begging in front of an Esteem Car. The voice came again at a much higher volume and she begged in the next car. After reaching to the group of ladies, she was beaten up by one of those and she started crying silently.

The touching moment didn't end here itself. My autorickshaw moved a bit ahead and she came again to beg in front of me. Her tears vanished within 10 seconds and mine started to flow out. I was flabbergasted to see how tears of a small girl vanish within 10 seconds and how strong she was made by begging on these streets.

On the way back to IIT Kharagpur via Rajdhani Train, the whole scene haunted me and provoked me to think. First thing to hit my gray cells was a bollywood movie 'Traffic signal' truely depicting the same story witnessed by me. It touched me even more after i reconciled the whole story.

It was in the past, when beggars used to beg to fulfill their basic needs. After realization of the fact that Indian sentiments and emotions led them earn a lot of money, many poor entered this field. Even this was not enough, and big people realized this untapped sector and made this business very well governed by marketing, distribution and demand-supply models of business. All red lights and traffic signals were scanned by beggars and hawkers. The demand increased with a huge expansion in the market and so did the supply making India a country of most number of beggars in the world. Even the famous video on YouTube - 'a girl who silenced the world for 5 minutes' had a girl describing India with beggars when it came to global concerns.

If, we the people of India, don't realize it today that if we all stop giving money to beggars the demand -supply model will crash and beggars will be free from people running this business and controlling them.

By the way, on the next red light, i saw a small boy selling Harvard Business Review edition for Rs. 450!!!

Will my children be happy?

I always thought, that i would give all the joy to my children and never let smiles go away from their faces.

I always used to think, that i would never lie to my children.

I always keep on thinking, that i would teach them principles which i also follow in life and every other good person does.

But wait, will i be able to do that. I am afraid to raise kids in this world?

Will i be able to tell them, don't fight over an object while big leaders across the globe are fighting for what not?

Will i be able to tell them, don't throw waste on road or pollute the world while i myself is afraid to breathe this poisonous air?

Will i be able to tell them, go and play in sun while i am afraid of ozone layer depletion.

Will i be able to tell them, share things with others while rich cannot share 500 bucks on poor's education?

Will i be able to tell them, be a responsible, non-corrupt, honest and sensible leader?

Will they be able to see the brightest of the flowers or lions or giraffes?

Will they be able to see Taj Mahal as white as it is now?

No, i feel worried, i have to do something to change my children's future, if not mine.

Don't you all feel worried.

Either change the world or don't have kids!!!

Have you ever thought whether you work from brain or your heart? Tough question to answer though but think again and find the answer.

I will give you a small hint. Suppose, someone told you to google and research on a particular topic, the work starts with your brain mapping all the keywords required for the search. Have you ever realized that you stop searching until your heart says, yes heart. Quickness or brain is required in today's era, but youngsters fail to gain experience or heart which plays an important role.

Was There Big Bang..........Who created first particle......who created the creator?

I would like to answer in my way of understanding.

1) Was there Big Bang?
Yes there was a big bang. Still 2% the remains of heat and sound of big bang have been traced by two scientist in US by detecting heat and sound in all directions and taking the intersection which was not governed by any law of physics.

Everyone knows the fact that galaxies are drifting away proving that there was a singular matrix of matter called the big bang. Putting Heisenberg's Uncertainty principle in the boundary conditions of that matter prove a massive explosion at a rate greater than speed of light.

2) God? The first fundamental particle of big bang, Higgs Boson (Science Nomenclature) or the god particle is god according to me.

3) How did Boson particle come into Existance?

A tough question to answer as well as tough to answer in a way people understand it. Let's ask ourselves first that all the matter we see must have come from somewhere, tonnes and tonnes of mass. Was that boson particle too massive. Conservation of mass is not a complete story but conservation of mass and energy makes it complete. There was energy around the boson particle which interacted and still keeps on interacting.

4) Where did energy come from?
Energy doesn't come from anywhere. It is present and always fascinates the humans, be it gush of sound in midnight from the window scaring someone or motion of big galaxies around the world.

5) Biggest question is not WHAT WAS THE START. It is WHAT IS THE END OF UNIVERSE.

According to me the boundary of universe is not where matter ends but where energy ends. As we know energy cannot end anywhere, thus scientist say that energy is wrapped forming the shape of universe to be wrapped.

6) Is science anti-religious or vica versa?

Science believe in ghostly powers just like religion believes in atoms and energy. The single word to describe anything and everything is 'ENERGY' and thanks to Aristotle for coining this fabulous word.
