Love Vs. Arrange Marraige

I and Dad were having a reasonable discussion over this inevitable topic of every Indian household while driving back home. Some hypothesis were understood between us that arrange marriages have changed over the past, love marriages don't stick longer than arranged ones while people are more satisfied in love marriages more than arranged ones.

ME: Dad, don't you find that arrange and love marriages are attaining an equilibrium.

DAD: Though i am getting your point, explain me further.

ME: See, nowadays guys find girls in school, colleges, online social networks etc. and same is the case with aunty's, social networks, matrimonial, shaadi.com in arrange ones.

Couple date each other over a period of time before guy proposes to the girl (in most of the cases) and same is with arrange marriage when the guy and girl meet several times before both families sit together for a decision.

DAD: Son, but you are missing one important point. You get support from your parents "matured people" in decision making in case of arrange marriages.

ME: But dad, a person knows himself/herself in the best possible way.

DAD: True, but the same person tends to overlook certain mistakes in the opposite sex and opens up their vision only after the break up.

(I think for a while, look upon my past and respond in a confident affirmative tone)

DAD: I don't know why did you start this conversation with me but whatever it is, you can open up.

ME: Hehe, no dad. Nothing like that. I will definitely let you know in the future when am sure.

DAD: Love marriage is never bad son. Just include us in the decision making process. Let us meet the girl when you both are in love. We will be able to guide on the paths where you or your vision cannot reach.

ME: True dad, i totally agree and I would urge the youth to confess about their love to parents for betterment of all and the decision.

After all, parents are more experienced than you and you all will stay together later on (in case of Indian homes). Why not make your love a part of everyone's life before hand?
